MEDICAL ASSISTANT - STUDENT IN TRAINING-Gastroenterology Job at Johnson Memorial Hospital
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists provider by rooming patient, documenting signs/symptoms, vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, respirations, weight, BMI and in-office procedures. Acts as a chaperone in exam rooms when provider performs a physical exam on a patient.
Maintains cleanliness of exam rooms. Ensures that all equipment is thoroughly cleaned after each patient. Empty biohazard trash and ensure that all sharps are disposed of in the sharps container after each patient.
Retrieves messages from the clinical voice mail message line and clinical pool in the EMR system and assigns message to the appropriate provider.
Performs set up for in-office procedures, follows proper procedure for maintaining sterile field.
Cleans and prepares instruments for sterilization after procedure is complete.
Assists with medication prior authorizations and authorizations for tests/procedures.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school diploma or equivalent required. Specialized training in direct patient care which can include HHA and or CNA certifications, required. At least one year of experience in a direct patient care role required. Must obtain CMA (AAMA), CCMA or NCMA certification within 6 months of hire.
