The Quality Engineer coordinates activities of workers engaged in inspecting and testing machined products while applying knowledge of quality assurance standards and procedures to drive improvements in products and customer satisfaction. This individual will oversee quality assurance processes, for conformance to regulatory and internal product standards consistently across all production areas. Individuals will also review reports and confer with quality assurance, production, management, and engineering personnel to solve work-related problems.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee assigned areas of QA and QC processes
Plans and adjusts work priorities to meet daily, weekly, monthly goals and metrics
Develop formal quality inspection training requirements
Assure inspection/test skill and methods are executed consistently across personnel and processes
Analyze processes to identify and communicate improvement opportunities
Drive process/quality improvements using formal methodologies
Apply Lean Mfg. principles and Six Sigma tools to production and quality processes
Sustain product and process controls, act to correct process nonconformance
Review/investigate internal / external customer complaints/issues to improve current control methods
Participate in cross-functional walkthroughs
To be successful in this position candidates must demonstrate a work history of:
Hands on at a shop floor level, working with individuals of the process to determine the “what it is� and “what it should be�
Results orientated both quantifiable and quantitative
Distinguishing common cause from special cause to tailor problem-solving methods
Developing a pull Vs. push approach for quality within an organization
Project leadership experience with direct reports
Developing strong working relationships with stakeholders
Experience and Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field
5 years of manufacturing experience
2 years of quality-related experience
Strong attention to detail and time-management skills
Experience in GD&T
Supervisory experience of management and union personnel
Blueprint reading
CMM Programming (desirable)
