Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Imaging Nuclear Med Job at Christus Health
This position is responsible for coordinating and performing diagnostic medical imaging procedures utilizing radiopharmaceutical and medical imaging equipment. Professional and departmental protocols are followed to provide the physician diagnostic images to identify and/or plan appropriate treatment for the patient’s condition.
CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - Medical Center (CSRH-MC), located in the South Texas Medical Center, provides a high-level of care through compassionate hands, experience physicians, and advanced technology, including the da Vinci Surgical Robot System and the Mako™ Robotic-Arm Assisted System. Services at the 178- bed facility include Acute Care of the Elderly Unit, cardiology, diabetes care, emergency care, general surgery, kidney transplantation at the CHRISTUS Transplant Institute, orthopedics, outpatient rehabilitation and aquatic therapy, Senior Behavioral Health Center, urology, and the Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center.
- Graduate of approved School of Radiological Sciences.
- A minimum of one (1) years’ experience in a clinical nuclear medicine setting is required.
- Five (5) years’ experience in a clinical Radiology setting is preferred.
- Registration by one of the credentialing bodies for Nuclear
- Medicine Technologists is required:
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.)
- Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (N.M.T.C.B.)
- CPR (American Heart Association) required.
- Ability to perform therapeutic procedures under the supervision of the Medical Director.
- Skilled in Calibration and preventative maintenance of Section equipment and Record keeping and associated required documentation.
- Knowledge of radiation safety procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of Federal and State regulations pertaining to the use and disposition of radioactive materials. Including but not restricted to:
- Methods of radiation control.
- Decontamination and monitoring methods.
- Radiation safety practices.
- Biological and physical properties of nuclides.
- Required notification procedures for unusual circumstances involving nuclides.
- Ability to operate imaging equipment including but not limited to:
- Planar Gamma Camera Systems
- SPECT Gamma Camera Systems
- Digital Imaging Computers
- Dose Calibrators
- Radiation Monitoring Devices
- PACS
- Requires a high degree of tact and judgement.
- Must be able to work unsupervised.
- Must have physical strength, dexterity and mobility necessary to transfer patients from wheelchairs or gurney to procedure table.
- Possible exposure to ionizing radiation, infectious disease processes, biological fluids, potential physical injury and Video Display Terminals (VDT).
