Overview of the Nutrition Services Manager:

Responsible for the general supervision of the kitchen, dishroom and daily functions of the Dietary Department. Responsible to help maintain the highest standards of sanitation and safety in the department. Ensures proper preparation and storage of all hot and cold foods served to both residents/patients and staff. Orders, checks-in and processes paperwork for food and supplies purchased. Follows recipes and menus. Provides clinical functions per policy.

Qualifications of the Nutrition Services Manager:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Some of the Requirements for the Nutrition Services Manager include:

  • Be able to maintain physical and emotional well being while performing job duties.
  • Be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D.
  • Have successfully completed the Certified Dietary Manager Course and maintains Certification by keeping up with continuing education hours or have equivalent knowledge and training in Food Service.
  • Be able to work under pressure and time limits.
  • Possess personal qualities such as caring, kindness, understanding, respect, judgment, integrity, loyalty, a sense of humor, and an ability to relate appropriately/effectively with residents/patients, families, staff, physicians and other customers. Understands resident/patients' rights.
