Epson is seeking an experienced Engineer who is passionate about retail packaging and design. The Packaging Engineer supports the design, application, procurement, and quality improvements of materials used to protect, process, and transport products.

Essential Functions

  • Identifies and qualifies domestic suppliers or manufacturers.
  • Design and test retail packaging
  • Improves supplier material quality problems.
  • Plans and executes material evaluations.
  • Evaluates and qualifies new material.
  • Creates, updates, and modifies material drawings.
  • Plans and coordinates introduction of materials for manufacturing and material logistics.
  • Identifies internationally-procured materials that are candidates for domestic procurement.
  • Supports material processing in manufacturing departments.
  • Participates in quality control activities.
  • Communicates with internal and external customers to determine packaging needs.
  • Documents processes and procedures to support bills of materials, manufacturing, and logistics methods.

Other Responsibilities

  • Follow company-wide safety programs, 5S initiatives, and ISO procedures
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required to accomplish essential functions of the job

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Five+ years high volume manufacturing and product support experience.
  • Experience in packaging design, durability testing, and procurement.
  • Ability to use hand tools and measuring equipment to perform parts inspections.
  • Strong troubleshooting and process analysis skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to work cross-departmentally and with outside vendors.
  • Strong PC skills including spreadsheets, word processing, design software.
  • Strong project management experience.

Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in a manufacturing, cleanroom, and/or office environment that is subject to moderate to high levels of noise, specialized apparel and safety equipment, and moving mechanical parts. This position will have exposure to and use of materials listed in the companys Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

Pay: $100,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
