Position Summary
This position reports to the Business Office Manager. A Payroll and Benefit Specialist processes employees’ weekly paychecks and benefits. Duties include verifying employees’ work hours and processing paychecks through an online payroll service (ADP), file various payroll reports, and update payroll records regularly. Processing and filing employee benefit forms and related information. Informing employees of eligibility, verifying validity of claim forms, and maintaining benefit records. This position is also responsible for processing vendor payments timely.
Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements
- Be a high school graduate or equivalent
- Prior bookkeeping experience preferred
- Data entry experience preferred
Essential Functions
- Update payroll records by entering any changes to employee information such as job title changes, pay rates, and deductions
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer any employee payroll queries
- Maintain all payroll and benefit operations according to company policies and procedures
- Process and file benefit and related information
- Inform employees of eligibility, verify validity of claim forms, and maintain benefit records
- Record expenses by processing payments, verifying and reconciling invoices, and ensuring invoices are coded correctly using LCCA chart of accounts.
- Timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices.
- Maintaining vendor accounts
- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients, vendors and customers
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
- Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
- Able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
- Be able to lift 20 lbs floor to waist, lift 20 lbs waist to shoulder, lift and carry 20 lbs, and push/pull 20 lbs
Specific Job Requirements
- Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e-mail
- Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Be knowledgeable of administration practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing administration functions in the post-acute care facility
- Have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the administration department
- Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: accounts payable, payroll, business office support, patient rights, and safety and sanitation
- Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
- Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
- Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
