Here's a list of expectations for the role of Payroll Specialist

• Process weekly payroll transactions
• Prepare payroll data for entry into company’s financial platform
• Coordinate with employees to validate coding and correct timesheet errors
• Oversee new hire onboarding with respect to the payroll system
• Manage appropriate garnishments, deductions, and necessary employee reimbursements
• Troubleshoot problems with paychecks, deductions, timecard issues
• Field payroll related questions from internal team
• Review PTO for accuracy and proper approvals
• Prepare weekly certified payroll reports for applicable projects
• Process 401(k) weekly reporting and submit to the record keeper
• Process weekly union benefit contributions
• Contribute to the development and refinement of internal accounting policies & procedures
• Maintain fiscal & electronic records re: transaction documentation
• Prepare financial reports as requested

Here's a list of requirements for the role of Payroll Specialist

• Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Experience with job-costing principles and procedures
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports in a timely fashion
• Computer and software proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
• Working knowledge of modern automated financial systems
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Maintain detailed records
• Quality written and verbal communication
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with an emphasis in accounting
• At least 5 years supporting the financial operations of an organization
