Family and employee owned Decorah Bank & Trust is seeking a full-time Personal Banker to join our growing team!
The purpose of the Personal Banker role is to attain A+ quality premium priced relationships by delivering exceptional customer service leading us to acquire all of their business and referrals of their friends. This position develops, manages, and retains high value banking clients and brings new business to the bank. The focus is on relationship management and relationship-based selling. Some responsibilities include: providing basic financial banking advice to clients, managing a consumer loan portfolio, selling appropriate deposit products and other services, identifying and capitalizing on cross-sell opportunities and making appropriate referrals to internal sources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Determines customers' financial needs and provides solutions or referrals to other areas of the bank.
  • Assists with development of prospect lists, campaigns and other activities of retail development team.
  • Contacts prospective customers in person, by phone or in writing, to develop business and grow the bank.
  • Cross-sells other products and services by referring to appropriate bank personnel to solidify relationship.
  • Builds and manages a portfolio of retail households through proactive relationship-building efforts that include a mix of service and sales contacts.
  • Negotiates rates for certificates of deposit.
  • Handles existing customer service needs such as address changes, account type conversions, signer changes, etc.
  • Handles transactions such as IRA contributions and distributions, CD renewals, account closings, etc.
  • Handles savings bond transactions.
  • Demos services such as Internet Banking, Personal Financial Management, etc.
  • Helps customers with check orders, endorsement stamps, notary services, etc.
  • May specialize in oversight of a program or product line such as IRA's, HSA's, ID Theft Resolution Service, etc.
  • Prepares forms or agreements to complete sales or transactions.
  • Helps in other areas of the bank as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3 to 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
