Job Summary
Sanford Health is seeking a Physicist in the Radiation Oncology Department at the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo, ND. The employee will share duties with three Physicists and a Director of Physics. This is a new position due to department growth. The department has five radiation oncologists and five dosimetrists. A sixth radiation oncologist is hired to start summer of 2024. Certification in radiation oncology physics is preferred; however consideration will be given to new grads and non-certified physicists who are board-eligible. This position will be involved in all aspects of radiation oncology physics. HDR experience and AMP status on a RAM license is preferred. Prior Aria/Eclipse experience is preferred. Department equipment consists of 3 Varian linacs: two matched TrueBeams with VisionRT and a Edge with ExacTrac Dynamic. Department software includes Aria/Eclipse 16.1 in a Citrix environment with all new FAS/GPU's, RapidArc, RapidPlan and MCO. Portal Dosimetry is used for routine IMRT QA. Brainlab Elements, RadCalc, Velocity along with ClearCheck, AutoContour and EZFluence from Radformation are used. A new Siemens go.Open Pro CT scanner with RGSC is used for simulations. A Varian Bravos HDR unit is used in a dedicated brachytherapy suite with a second Siemens large bore CT scanner. The physics team supports a busy prostate and gyn brachytherapy practice. QA equipment is primarily Sun Nuclear with SunCHECK/DoseCHECK software with 3DS and 1DS tanks, IC Profiler and DQA3. A Xstrahl superficial x-ray unit is used for skin treatments.
Qualifications
Master s degree in physics, biophysics, medical physics or radiological physics.
Board certified required. If not certified, the new hire has five years from time of hire to become certified. For a physicist in radiation oncology, acceptable certifications are: the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Physics, Therapeutic Medical Physics, or Therapeutic Radiologic Physics, American Board of Medical Physics, Canadian College of Physicist in Medicine or related certification board.
