Job Summary: This position is primarily responsible for leading and managing profitable growth in the National Aviation Services Practice (e.g, planning, geospatial, architecture and navigation services); and is primarily responsible for propelling Woolpert into a position of an industry leader in the defined practice area. This position identifies/monitors the quantitative and qualitative achievements of the team and reports directly to the Sales Director.
Essential Functions:
Practice Leadership: Manages and is responsible for growth and profitability across the National Aviation Services Practice. Secures new business opportunities, projects, service offerings and clients in connection within a defined practice area, matching the client and project type focus with the overall business VS3 (vision, strategy, structure and staffing) of the market and the firm. Supports the program directors in building and enhancing existing client relationships to identify and initiate additional sales opportunities within a client base and practice area, as well as in new practice areas and other service lines. The Practice Leader helps connect staff to other Markets and Sectors within Woolpert where cross-selling opportunities exist. Makes go/no go decisions within a practice area. Creates and maintains new professional client relationships to develop a clear understanding of client marketplace, including market needs and client expectations within a practice area. Defines appropriate marketing strategy to achieve sales goals or market penetration and assists with execution of such marketing strategy. Leads the preparation and coordination of firm presence at practice-related trade, professional, or civic marketing functions. Participates in activities of local and national professional and/or civic organizations to establish, enhance, and maintain Woolpert’s presence in the marketplace. Makes formal presentations and/or publishes articles for professional/trade/civic organizations.
People Leadership: Hires and manages program directors and other required leaders as needed within a defined practice area. Establishes employee performance goals, provides consistent feedback and works with Team Leaders, Operations Managers, PMs, and PDs to achieve individual and market goals. Effectively resolves conflict within team by initiating and facilitating communication. Mentors and coaches their direct reports.
Project Leadership: Assists in negotiations or performs negotiation of project schedule, fee, scope and contract terms. Assists in preparing proposals, and participates in interviews, and/or firm capabilities presentations to potential clients. Identifies, addresses, and resolves in close coordination with appropriate individuals, any project issues impacting client goals, objectives, and/or client satisfaction within a practice area. The practice leader does not manage projects or clients individually.
Required Qualifications:
Must have a BA/BS and 5 years related experience, MA/MS and 10 years related experience or 16 years related experience.
Must be able to effectively communicate in both internal and external relationships for all essential job functions.
Must be able to make sound decisions/recommendations based on the evaluation and synthesis of project information and data.
Must demonstrate an enterprising, innovative, proactive management approach.
Must possess high levels of demonstrated leadership ability.
Must be able to establish and maintain rapport with clients, management, and employees.
Must possess strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Must possess excellent presentation and communication (oral and written) skills.
Must have Microsoft Office suite skills.
Must be able to successfully manage multiple, competing priorities.
Travel:
Must be able to travel to meet the needs and demands of the practice.
