The community of Lothrop Elementary School in Pittsford, Vermont and the Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union seek a creative, and dynamic individual to be our next Lothrop principal, beginning July 2023. The successful candidate will be an instructional leader with excellent leadership and communication skills; and the ability to form strong connections with students, families and the community lead with strength and collaboration follow through on implementation and sustainability of school and district initiatives such as an MTSS intervention system, PBIS and behavior structures, Proficiency Based Learning, and technology-rich learning environments; and have financial management capabilities for building the school budget and managing on-going expenditures. The successful candidate should have a minimum of three years of teaching in K-12. A Masters Degree in Education is required.

The candidate must hold or be eligible for VT Principal license. Community/History: Lothrop School is a PK-6 school of around 190 learners located in the Sunshine Village of Pittsford, Vermont. Lothrop is minutes from both the city of Rutland and Killington ski area. Parent and community volunteers play an active, vital role in the school.

The school places high priority on both a positive culture and innovation. Lothrop School is a PBiS School with a comprehensive system for identifying students needs and creating intervention and enrichment opportunities to support students. Demographics: PK-6, we have about 190 learners. Approximately 12% of our learners receive specialized instruction through special education services and about 25% of our learners receive academic or social and emotional intervention support.

Our free and reduced population is currently close to 40%.School Specific Initiative: Lothrop Elementary is a PBiS and Responsive Classroom school. We have an established MTSS system that includes Data Teams made up of grade level cluster teachers, special educators, interventionists, and the principal. We also have a Student Support Leadership Team which is made up of a school counselor, Rutland Mental Health clinician and case manager, student support professional and principal. Our curriculum is based upon CCSS, NGSS, and the RNESU Global Ends.
