How you’ll shape the future of the Technical Department:
  • Responsible for in-process and finished product quality investigations. Coordinates cross functional teams to drive improvements to close identified quality gaps.
  • Works with Marketing to determine proper disposition for pulp as directed by Technical Manager. Works to determine the most profitable outlets for off-specification and off grade pulp.
  • Gathers pertinent information needed and leads follow up investigations to respond to customer requests and complaints, as assigned by Technical Manager. Supervises and continuously improves the pulp selection and customer reporting functions.
  • Supports trial run authorization requests (TRAR) for the mill. Works with pulp mill and machines to drive operation towards run to target quality philosophy.
  • Monitors and follows up on gaps identified from mill information KPI visual charts in main lab leading to improved product quality. Participates in technical department weekend duty rotation, on-call support, and Daily Flight plan as requested.
  • Supports continuous improvement and corrective actions through the CPAR process. Participates in laboratory safety programs and training to prevent injuries and to provide a safe and healthy work environment.
You’ll be someone who can bring:
  • BS degree in Chemical or Pulp and Paper Engineering or related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years in chemical manufacturing environment, with pulp manufacturing experience preferred. Preferred experience would include combination of engineering, quality assurance, and operations with some supervisory experience.
  • Solid understanding of quality systems. Must understand Pulp Mill, Finishing and Warehousing operations and their impact on product disposition.
