Position Overview:
The Processing Operator is responsible for the operation of advanced thermal processing equipment, such as tubular and plate heat exchangers. This position reports to the Production Supervisor. In the absence of the Processing Operator, another Processing Operator will serve as backup.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operation, cleaning, and routine maintenance of sterilizers, product transfer circuits, and cleaning systems including, but not limited to the Silos, VTIS 1, VTIS 2, S2, S3, TA Flex, Sterile Tanks 41A-D, and CIP circuits A, B, C.
- Documentation of all processing parameters, product transfers, tank inventories, system events, cleaning chemical concentrations, critical control points, etc. on the appropriate charts and forms.
- Receiving and unloading of tankers of bulk liquid ingredients, performance of associated tests, and documentation of necessary information.
- Operation of material handling equipment (Pallet Jack, Drum Dolly, etc.) as needed.
- Documentation of all pertinent material information (lot#’s, quantities, locations, etc.) on the appropriate forms.
- Troubleshooting of Processing and CIP systems.
- Preventative Maintenance of Processing and CIP systems.
- General support of plant production and quality assigned by plant leadership.
- Attend all safety meetings, report any safety incidents/accidents and understand and follow all Company and Plant Safety policies and Procedures.
- Support for the SQF 2000 System.
- Trained in the NHSC HACCP program in order to identify critical steps and their instructions critical to effective implementation and maintenance of the Food Safety Plan.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English at a level to facilitate the understanding of the terminology of the job.
- Ability to comprehend and follow written and/or verbal procedures or instructions.
- Ability to learn basic keyboard and data entry skills.
- Have basic math skills.
- Have basic mechanical skills.
- Ability to work safely.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and the ability to kneel, bend over, squat, stoop, and carry.
- Ability to work in a warm and dusty environment.
- Ability to organize and plan ahead to maximize job efficiency.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- Previous manufacturing experience a plus.
- Demonstrate communication, organization, and listening skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, neatness, and follow through.
- Ability to organize and handle multiple tasks.
- Computer literate.
