Reports To: Production Specialist

  • Weekly Schedule: 40 hours + OT

Orientation Schedule/Start - Every 2 weeks on Mondays. Starting Tues 5/30/23, then 6/12, 6/26, 7/10, 7/24

• Any specific skills or requirements you want in a candidate:

Lift 50-60lbs, Repetitive tasks, Able to sit and stand for long periods; climb stairs, differentiate/see colors, read English.

  • Any additional Medical Surveillance testing required? No

From May to August, they will be working on a variety of tasks at the site Indoor and/or Outdoor.

  • Day Shift 7:00am - 3:30pm (Orientation Day starts at 7:30am-3:30pm).
  • Starting in August, they will transition into Warehousing and/or Packaging roles.
  • Forklift Experience (Type: Sitting) is preferred and Corteva training is to be provided.
  • From mid-Aug thru mid-Oct:
  • 12 hours Days 6a – 6:30pm (3.5 days: Sun, Mon Tues, Weds AM or Weds PM, Thurs, Fri, Sat). Front Half and Back half will be determined based on need at the time of hire.
  • Mid-Oct will start 24/7 which includes the Night shift 6pm – 6:30am
  • 3 on 4 off; 4 on 3 off (1 week is 4 days: Sun, Mon Tues, Weds then 2nd week is 3 days Thurs, Fri, Sat). Front Half and Back half will be determined based on need at the time of hire.

• Night Shift 6:00pm - 6:30am - +$2.00 Differential

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The General Operator role has a seasonality effect. The type of work assigned will vary based on the current season. In spring and summer, you will be assigned to teams supporting a variety of responsibilities. You could spend time inspecting and maintaining our seed crops or you could support seed inventory management at the plant. Fall is a busy season with harvesting and seed packaging in full swing. In the winter, you’ll be cleaning & packaging seed, supporting maintenance work, warehousing, and shipping seed to ensure our customers have the product they need for the coming planting season.

September-October:

  • Receive and process trucks hauling crops from the field for weighing and unloading.
  • Complete a wide range of harvest activities: ex.: husk and sort operations
  • Operate dryer to dry crop within the prescribed safety, quality, and financial requirements
  • Shelling and storage of crops from bins in the dryer facility
  • Supply the Conditioning department with a constant supply of seed
  • Apply appropriate treatment to seed

November-March

  • Label, tag, bag and palletize seed
  • Enter inventory information into the computer
  • Stage seed for shipment in the warehouse

April -August:

  • Retag in-house seed.
  • Re-bag backhaul (returned) seed
  • Inspect pro boxes to ensure they are free of debris and clean
  • Wash pro boxes as necessary

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Knowledge of production agriculture and production plant operations
  • Ability to safely perform duties in timely fashion while maintaining seed quality
  • Ability to work independently or with a team
  • Ability to adjust to changing conditions and anticipate needs
  • Ability to make independent decisions

QUALIFICATIONS/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Pass a background check and other pre-employment screenings
  • Have reliable transportation to the site and be able to arrive at the work site as instructed
  • Maintain enthusiasm, good attitude, honesty, and a willingness to treat all with respect
  • Ability to work long hours and rotational shifts, including over-time as needed;
  • Ability to communicate verbally and written
  • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 60 pounds, work in and outdoors, walk on uneven surfaces

Monitors and operates equipment and facilities, including field equipment, insuring quality and conformance with standard operating procedures. Maintains safety standards at all times and initiates and follows emergency procedures when necessary. Rotates through various roles within the area, including, in some cases, a control room rotation.
