The T-H Marine family of companies is looking to fill a Purchasing Agent position at our TH Marine location in Huntsville, Alabama.

The Purchasing Agent is responsible purchasing goods and services according to departmental and organizational needs, policies, and procedures. The Purchasing Agent will work directly with the Purchasing Team to ensure success of the department.


Position Description:
Full Time

FLSA Status: Salaried Exempt

Shift: 7:00am-5:00pm

Work Week: 4 days a week

Location: Huntsville, Alabama

Responsibilities:

  • Purchases goods and services according to the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates with managers to maintain inventory levels.
  • Evaluates vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.
  • Works with vendors to negotiate volume, cash transaction, and other available discounts.
  • Ensures that purchasing documents are complete and accurate, with appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.
  • Maintains pricing histories and other vendor records.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in purchasing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Other Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine purchasing needs.
  • May require travel.
