OVERVIEW
As a Quality Engineer II, you will be responsible for championing supplier food safety, managing material (ingredient or packaging) categories, and working with both internal and external partners to ensure the safety of General Mills’ products and processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide product quality and food safety leadership through management of solid foundational prerequisite programs and HACCP Utilizing ISO 22000 standards (FSSC)
- Provide functional leadership to support plant and department objectives
- Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Using quality engineering principles to collect, analyze and interpret in-process and analytical data to make quality evaluations, recommend actions for improvement and assure resolution
- Provide leadership and technical support for R&D, reformulations, and new product start-ups
- Develop action plans with Operations, R&D, Engineering, and Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure product specifications, analytical procedures and sampling programs are appropriate and meet system capability and key consumer and customer requirements
- Provide training in food science, food safety, quality, applied statistics, and quality measurement systems to appropriate personnel
- Drive sanitary design improvements for processing and packaging systems
- Ensure the facility meets all GMP/regulatory, HACCP, sanitation, and product safety guidelines
- Collaborate with product managers to address customer complaints and manage product issues
- Lead run to target initiatives on assigned system
- Provide technical expertise to drive root cause to problem areas
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, Packaging, Material Science, or related field
- 2-3 years of related manufacturing and quality experience
- Travel 0-10% of time, flexible travel schedule
- Ability to manage projects
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, ability to apply engineering principles, and ability to troubleshoot
PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Self-starter who can prioritize workload while meeting commitments
- Understanding of product quality, sensory, and food safety
- Understanding of Zero Loss Culture philosophy and tools
- Demonstrated leadership and initiative
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizations
- Plant Quality Engineer, manufacturing, or auditing/consulting experience
- Ability to flex work schedule when required to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation. This includes weekend on-call support and early/late work hours
- Understanding of internal policies/standards, regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, ability to apply engineering principles, and ability to troubleshoot
- Demonstrated ability to apply the tools of statistics, problem solving and decision making
- Demonstrated leadership and initiative
