Reading Interventionist Job at Winston Salem/Forsyth County Schools
FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to provide research-based literacy interventions to identified students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Implements scientific- based research strategies to enable students to develop the competencies and skills to be successful readers. • Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students. • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior required to achieve effective participation in all activities. • Evaluates academic growth of students and maintains appropriate records. • Communicates regularly with school level personnel to include Administration, Curriculum Coordinator, Staff and Lead Coordinator about student progress. • Identifies student needs and analyzes student data for growth. • Develops and delivers lesson plans appropriate to the needs and abilities of assigned students. • Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. • Ability to work independently, under general supervision. • Ability to work harmoniously with staff, volunteers, parents, and students. • Ability to operate and maneuver standard office equipment and specialized classroom equipment. • Ability to work with student data and maintain confidentiality. • Ability to provide a broad range of instructional assistance to teachers and others. • Knowledge of grade appropriate competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of this position. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum: Bachelor's degree in reading, language arts, education, or related field; or a minimum of 48 college semester hours and three years of experience working with children in a classroom setting.
