About Our Opportunity
We are seeking a Receiving Supervisor – First Shift, to work in the Blairs, Virginia warehouse. Under the general supervision of the Inbound Manager, the Receiving Supervisor directly supervises the daily processes and procedures of the Receiving Department. This individual supervises and distributes the daily workload for the team and establishes and adjusts manpower assignments to meet departmental goals. It is anticipated that, in performing the assigned duties, the Receiving Supervisor will regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance to the management or general business operations of the Company.
Responsibilities
- Supervises daily workload for a staff of Dock Employees, Clerical Staff, Coordinator and Department Lead.
- Establishes and adjusts manpower assignments to meet department goals.
- Maintains records necessary for the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely reports for the Receiving Department.
- Demonstrates competence in the use of Warehouse Management Systems such as JDE, WMS and Logistic Tracking Web Sites.
- Works closely with QA, Replenishment & IC Department Requirements as it applies to Put Away, Replenishment and/or the movement of Obsolete, Use Up and Seasonal Inventory where necessary.
- Demonstrates compliance in established warehouse systems integrity relative to RF and System Verification tools.
- Prepares Daily Shift Hand Off notes for 2nd and 3rd shifts as it applies to Receiving requirements.
- Studies departmental workloads to provide advice to Management on manpower needs to meet department goals.
- Supervises daily adherence to departmental housekeeping procedures through the removal of cardboard, plastic, paper and other warehouse debris.
- Assists with the development, execution, and revises departmental SOP’s to enhance quality, quantity, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Works with Human Resources to interview, select, and train employees to fill vacant positions.
- Annually prepares performance evaluations for departmental staff.
- Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills. Stays current with developments within the manufacturing and distribution field and shares expertise with others.
- Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others, and works to maintain constructive working relationships.
- Demonstrates a commitment to companywide quality and safety.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate with management, colleagues, line staff, and individuals outside the company in order to meet departmental goals.
- High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree (A.A.) preferred.
- One to three years’ experience in a distribution/manufacturing environment required to include conveyor and sortation experience
- Management experience required
- Strong analytical skills with a methodological approach to problem solving and implementation.
- Effective oral and written communication skills including the ability to present ideas, and/or facts and recommendations effectively.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret related documents.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WMS and JDE
- Ability to lead, and to manage groups through project implementation.
- Excellent follow-up and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work independently with little direction.
