NEW BEDFORD, MA- Child & Family Services is the Community Behavioral Health Center for Greater New Bedford providing same day access and open access to behavioral and mental health services. With this expansion of services, we are adding a full-time Recovery Coach to our outpatient clinic team!
The Recovery Coach will promote a recovery-based approach to client care with an emphasis on respect, self-direction, and empowerment by providing peer support, personal assistance, education on community resources, and other supportive services for individuals with a substance abuse disorder. This individual will work as part of the open access model.

SIGN-ON BONUS: $1000 (HALF IN YOUR FIRST PAYCHECK; HALF AFTER 90 DAYS)

Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or GED certificate is required; Post-secondary education in social work or psychology preferred
  • Must have lived, personal experience as a former recipient of recovery services and be comfortable sharing that lived experience to provide individual and group support to clients
  • Must be certified as a Recovery Coach by the Bureau of Substance Abuse Services (BSAS) Recovery Coach Academy

Responsibilities:
The following responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive and may be adjusted to meet the agency’s needs.

  • Engages peers in collaborative and caring relationships and demonstrates understanding of peers’ experiences and feelings
  • Provides support and conveys hope to peers about their own recovery
  • Shares lived experiences of recovery and describes personal recovery practices and helps peers discover recovery practices that work for them
  • Personalizes peer support and tailors’ services and support to meet the preferences and unique needs of peers and their families
  • Provide trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, person-centered care based on the unique needs of clients
  • Connecting clients to resources, services, and supports
  • Maintain professional relationships and connections with community resources and partners
  • Supports recovery planning and helps peers to function as a member of their treatment/recovery support team
  • Provides information about skills related to health, wellness, and recovery
  • Helps peers to manage crises and strives to create safe spaces when meeting with peers
  • Values communication and follows laws and rules concerning confidentiality and respects others’ rights for privacy
  • Supports collaboration and teamwork
  • Promotes leadership and advocacy
  • Provide client transportation on an as needed basis
  • Maintain Recovery Coach certification and training requirements
  • Maintain record-keeping as required by CFS, funding sources, and accreditation authorities
  • Participate in all supervision and training activities as required by CFS, funding sources, and accreditation authorities
