Overview:
The Trauma Resource RN is responsible for responding to all trauma activations within the ED. The Trauma Resource RN will work collaboratively with the ED staff to coordinate and facilitate optimal care of the traumatically injured patient as guided by the American College of Surgeons criteria. This RN acts as the liaison between ED, ICU, Charge RN and Access Center to coordinate efficient through put and safe care and is accountable at each part of the process. During the time this RN isn’t facilitating the immediate care of trauma patients during activation, the Trauma Resource RN will round on trauma patients in the ED/ICU/PCU, assist with transport of the trauma patient and is available to assist staff as needed. They will act as family liaison to promote patient family centered care. Qualifications:

Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):
Active RN license in Kentucky required- Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate program of nursing. Will consider candidates who are currently enrolled baccalaureate program of nursing and expected to finish within 3 years.
- Master’s degree in healthcare discipline preferred
- BLS (required), ACLS (required), PALS (preferred), TNCC (required, if not certified must complete within one month of hiring), TCRN (required, if not certified must complete within 24 months of hire), TCAR (required, must complete within three months of hiring)
- Superior interpersonal skills
- Effective Change agent
Experience (required and preferred):
Minimum of 2 years clinical ICU/ED healthcare experience required- Experience working in Level I or II Trauma Center
