The full-time Research Associate will support the development, prototyping and performance testing of new diagnostic medical devices. The role will include preparing clinical specimens using experimental devices and running validation assays. The Research Associate will work closely with engineers to provide performance data and suggestions for improvement on new devices to the design team. As part of a small research and development team, the Research Associate will have the opportunity to take a more varied role than usual for an early career laboratory position. The Research Associate will have experience in some combination of biosciences, medical device development, device engineering, or process development.

Responsibilities:

  • Following experimental instructions to assist in biological and mechanical testing of new products
  • Assisting with organizing and completing FDA clinical studies
  • Assembling small quantities of prototype devices and clinical kits
  • Participating in general research operations including laboratory maintenance
  • Preparing data reports and records.
  • Contribute as part of the team to experimental design.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improvement on new devices.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Biology, Molecular and Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 0-5 years of laboratory experience in biology or chemistry and familiarity with basic lab practices and equipment.
  • Comfort talking to new people (e.g. clinical subjects).
  • Ability to work collaboratively, think critically, and take initiative to get stuff done.
  • Strong technical writing skills (e.g. protocols, reports, data records)
  • Experience working in a biosafety level 2 (BSL2) environment. (Preferred)
  • Experience working with medical devices. (Preferred)

Pay Range: $60,000-$80,000
