Orchard Street is a 12-family residential treatment program located in Leominster that serves women in recovery from substance use disorder and their children. This program aims to provide a safe, supportive recovery community that will promote a sense of empowerment, family healing, and life skills essential for women and their children to stabilize and lead drug free, productive lives. A team of staff provides on-site individual, group and family therapy as well as comprehensive children’s services and substance use disorder treatment to promote recovery.
The Residential Counselor works with clients to assist in activities of daily living and foster a sense of safety in the program. The Residential Counselor runs evidence-based groups, completes required paperwork, and carries a caseload of clients to facilitate the implementation of their treatment plans. Responsibilities:
- Implement programming for residents on a consistent basis.
- Facilitate implementation of the treatment plan.
- Facilitation of groups, completion of daily paperwork including daily logs, group logs, session notes.
- Crisis intervention
- Provide transportation for clients
- Collaborate with providers
- Monitor residents’ medication, refills, document medications and changes, provide safe storage and also assist while attending appointments
- Working with residents to maintain the residence on a daily basis including chores, grocery shopping/carrying groceries into the kitchen, bedroom upkeep, laundry to include carrying to and from washer/dryer, yard work, and other moderate housekeeping duties.
- Must be able pass required trainings including Medication Administration Program (MAP), CPR and First Aid

Grade C02: Residential Counselor I: HSD/HiSet/GED required or Associates degree in Human Services
- Grade C04: Residential Counselor II: Requires a Bachelor’s degree; preferably in the field of psychology or human services

2+ years experience working with children and families

Knowledge of child development issues including the impact of substance use disorders on children and family reunification
- Ability to effectively communicate with staff and clients
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct children's activities and programming which adequately addresses the need of individual children within the program
- Knowledge of parenting issues and ability to provide education and support to families within the program

This position requires transporting clients as an essential function of the role. A current, valid US Driver’s license and a review of your motor vehicle record is required for a determination of your eligibility to drive for this work related purpose. A CHL vehicle may be available but if you will be using your personal vehicle you will be required to provide proof of current registration and inspection.
- Must be able to pass a CORI (Criminal Offender Background Check) and a DCF/CPS (Department of Families Adam Walsh/Child Protective Services background check)
