The United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California seeks Scanning Technicians who will embrace a temporary opportunity. This is an entry level operational court support position located in the Bankruptcy Court Clerk's Office. The Scanning Technician will be scanning and uploading paper court filings and other court documents. The incumbent provides procedural information and customer service, and ensures incoming documents conform to federal and local rules. The incumbent also provides office support and assistance for the administrative functions of the office.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Sort, classify, and scan paper documents in preparation for uploading to federal court electronic docketing system.
  • Quality-check scanned documents to ensure legibility and successful upload.
  • Maintains integrity of the closed file system by such means as monitoring proper access to records and maintaining timely and accurate inventory of case files.
  • Place documents in electronic storage or send by email to appropriate court staff.
  • Provide regular feedback regarding scanning status and direct any questions or concerns to the immediate supervisor.
  • Conduct quality control review and dispose of paper documents as directed.
  • Maintain integrity and security of court documents.
  • Perform additional general scanning, photocopying, mailing, and faxing.
  • Provide administrative assistance to managers, supervisors, and other staff, as required.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Two years specialized experience that is progressively responsible clerical experience requiring the regular and recurring application of clerical procedures involving the routine use of keyboard skills and use of specialized terminology, and demonstrated ability to apply a body of rules, regulations, directives, or laws. Such experience is commonly encountered in law firms, legal counsel offices, banking and credit firms, educational institutions, social service organizations, insurance companies, real estate and title offices, and corporate headquarters or personnel/payroll operations. Standing, bending, and lifting of boxes is required.
