Pay Range: $110,000 - $158,000

Reporting to the director of operations, you will prepare detailed project cost estimates to support bidding. Projects are typically regulated utility infrastructure construction projects and will be either new or replacement infrastructure, varying in degree of complexity and size. You will work with all levels of the organization to ensure accurate cost estimate data sources are developed and maintained and develop a database of bid proposals and coach project managers and superintendents in the area of project cost reporting.

What You'll Do

  • Establish complete understanding of project scope of work (SOW) related to the request for proposal. Prepare detailed cost estimates and P6 Schedule by analyzing plans, specifications, and SOWs and performing detailed quantity take-offs.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings with the client and organize site visits to obtain any unique or specific requirements that may affect cost estimate.
  • Develop estimates to include labor, equipment, materials and subcontractors required to perform the scope of work. Bid proposals to be generated to meet client needs to be inclusive of overheads, taxes, bonds, insurances, mark-ups, contingencies and other costs that my affect the project.
  • Define individual scopes of work for qualified subcontractors / vendors / suppliers and solicit pricing to ensure adequate competitive pricing for each estimate item.
  • Manage proper distribution of Company requested documentation inclusive of pre-bid solicitations, qualification submissions, Company information, and other pre-construction requests for information.
  • Develop and maintain cost estimates that support our blanket contract Unit Price Listing.
  • Review final estimate packages with Operations personnel before formal quotation, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Facilitate contract handoff to Operations. This includes job cost tracking set-up, development of revenue recognition units and productivity analysis reporting.
  • Ensure the integrity of the project budget through approved scope changes, fiscal changes and contingency reallocations.
  • Evaluate variances between actual and budgeted costs. Develop project cost model for estimating future projects based on historic data.
  • Prepare and issue project cost reports including estimate at completion and variances.
  • Develop project reporting metrics and methods based on Client’s requirements.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by leadership.

What You'll Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Construction Management, or equivalent job experience.
  • 8+ years experience with increasing responsibilities in project estimating, including construction management, contract administration, and documentation.
  • Proficient in P6 Scheduling and commercial estimating software such as B2W, Accubid, HCSS, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience of utility infrastructure construction projects and successful estimate preparation.
  • Understanding of Project Management principles, methods and techniques.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a typical indoor office environment with pre and post bid meetings held at customer site locations.
  • Flexibility to work different schedules and stay late with little or no notice.
  • Can read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
