This person will design equipment and manage process and equipment layout for efficient production of toll and manufacturing plant business. Within that, this person will lead the maintenance, continuous improvement and engineering groups and be responsible for directing work activities engaged in repair, maintenance and installation of machines, tools, and equipment. The Site Engineer will also manage plant capital projects and be responsible for plant property and equipment assets integrity management.
Responsibilities:
Manage and develop subordinate employees in a manner that establishes a respect for assets and the maintenance of plant equipment and facilities to maximize the useful life of equipment and always ensure equipment integrity.
Manage plant capital and maintenance budgets, including the following:
- Budgetary planning and approval process.
- Cost tracking and reporting.
- Fixed asset management and vendor negotiations.
- Manage and direct capital projects, including the following:
- Project definition and approval.
- Project planning, including schedule, cost estimation, teamwork assignment, and risk management.
- Engineering design and functional specification of process and equipment.
- Project controls including schedule, cost estimation, and change management.
- Procurement of equipment, labor, and materials.
- Project execution, including leadership of project team and dealing with vendors, suppliers, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Project ownership throughout life cycle.
Serves as primary technical resource for the plant, for both internal and external needs. This includes the following:
- Engineering and execution of non-capital projects driven by maintenance, safety, quality, efficiency, reliability, continuous improvement, or other drivers.
- Assisting operations in process analysis and/or equipment troubleshooting to identify improvement opportunities.
- Training and mentoring of reporting employees, including engineers, interns and maintenance and production personnel as it impacts the process and equipment.
- Providing expertise in technical safety (process and equipment) as needed to assist SH&E Department.
- Maintaining plant drawings, including P&IDs, layouts, and electrical drawings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 5 years of years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 3 years of leadership experience.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of codes and regulations that impact the design process.
- Knowledge of the principles of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
- Interpersonal, organizational, presentation and communication skills (written and spoken English).
Preferred Skills:
- Professional Engineer license.
- A degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
Experience with a variety of engineering disciplines and principles, including:
- Process/Mechanical - machine/equipment design, fluid flow, solids handling, heat transfer, strength of materials, mass/energy balance.
- Electrical/Controls - electric power distribution, power and control wiring, process control strategy, instrumentation, automation, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Facilities - site planning, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, building design, steam, utilities, construction management, and engineering economy.
Essential Functions:
- Must be able to work at elevated heights up to 50ft.
- Must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds.
- May be required to pass OSHA respirator physical.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $43,252.79 - $119,624.59 per year
