YOUR LIFE AS A SPECIAL EDUCATION SPECIALIST - SCHOOL TEACHER

This full-time teaching position works the day shift during business hours.

As a Special Education Specialist - School Teacher in human services, you play a crucial role in designing a classroom environment that is both motivating and stimulating for students. Working in our integrated preschool classroom, you collaborate with therapeutic staff, education consultants, administration, and parents to create a safe, warm, and caring educational setting. Each day, you provide a written lesson plan as well as implement a behavioral system as approved by the treatment team and individual education plan (IEP). You ensure that students are supervised at all times by a responsible individual employed by the agency.

You maintain accurate attendance records and submit them toward the end of the summer session. In addition, you keep track of periodic progress scales for each student and attend case conferences at appropriate intervals during the summer session. As requested, you submit progress reports to the appropriate parties, as well as attend school- and agency-related staff or parent meetings and training. You develop strong working relationships with fellow professionals, including the coordinator of therapeutic activities.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• NYS Birth - 2nd certification/students with disabilities
• Ability to meet the minimum requirements of the appropriate state Board of Education
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Covid-19 vaccination
