INTRODUCTION:
We are seeking qualified applicants to fill a part-time Speech Therapist position in our Early

Intervention Program. Come grow with us and our Infant and Toddlers. Be a part of a strong

clinical interdisciplinary team. Share your knowledge with families to help their infants and

toddlers develop to their fullest potential. Work closely with families in their natural settings to

provide strategies to support their infants' special needs. Prince William County Community

Services is located within easy commuting distance from Washington, D.C. and Northern

Virginia.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:

Evaluates clients, plans initial treatment, interpret goals and treatment plan to parents, makes

recommendations for further developmental assessments as needed;

Assesses referred population and participates in IFSP outcome development in the areas of

speech, language and feeding and overall motor development;

Participates as a member of interdisciplinary interagency evaluation team, interprets assessment

results and determine eligibility for services.

Conducts intervention sessions in family's natural environment during their daily routines;

Conducts parent and other caretaker training in related to speech therapy skills.

Effective coaching skills to build the capacity of our families.

Maintains regular contact with physicians and specialists providing therapy prescriptions;

consults regularly with other professional staff.

Prepares evaluations and progress reports at six month intervals, maintains client records.

Attends and leads in-service training sessions for internal staff and other professional agencies.

Participates in staff meetings, interagency meetings and activities as assigned.

Participates in interdisciplinary interagency team to develop IFSP (Individualized Family Service

Plan).

Provides services on the IFSP for enrolled families, specific to professional discipline; determines

frequency and intensity of services based on child development status and family priorities.

Assists with services coordination and assures utilization of other Community Services as

appropriate.

Makes presentations to community groups about their discipline and about the County's Early

Intervention Program

Maintains clinical and administrative records.

Conducts Early Intervention sessions in the family's natural environment for infants and toddlers

with developmental disabilities.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree in speech therapy

1-2 years of experience working with infants/toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities

Virginia license to practice Speech Therapy

PREFERENCES:

Current or eligible for Part C Certification

Experience with Electronic Health Records

Strong documentation skills Strong customer relation skills

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: Hours of operation are typically between the hours of 8 a.m. to 6

p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is 18.75 hours/week with specifics decided between

staff member and supervisor.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid driver's license;

Must pass DMV record check;

Must pass TB test;

Must possess certification in first aid and infant cardiac pulmonary resuscitation;

Offer of employment is contingent upon the candidate passing a finger print national criminal

record check.

Child Protective Services Requirements: Effective 1999, mandated by the Department of

Behavioral Health and Developmental Services 12VA35-105-400 rules and Regulations for

Licensing Providers by the Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services related

to Criminal Registry Checks, a search of the registry of founded complaints of child abuse and

neglected maintained by the Department of Social Services.

ENTRY SALARY RANGE: $37.01 - $53.35
