As a school based SLP, your job duties are targeted on helping students with communication disorders and speech-language difficulties. Here are some highlights of your responsibilities and experiences an A+ candidate should already have knowledge of.
Assessment and Evaluation: This involves administering standardized tests, informal assessments, and gathering information from teachers and parents.
Individualized Treatment Planning: These plans outline specific goals, strategies, and interventions to address the unique needs of each student.
Speech and Language Therapy: Your therapy sessions will focus on improving speech articulation, language comprehension and expression, social communication skills, fluency, and voice quality.
Collaboration with Teachers and Parents: This involves sharing strategies, providing recommendations for classroom accommodations, and facilitating effective communication techniques.
Progress Monitoring: You will track their performance, modify treatment plans as necessary, and communicate progress reports to parents, teachers, and other relevant professionals.
Other duties may include Assistive Technology, Team Participation, and Professional Development
Depending on the school district job duties may vary depending on caseload, and the age group of students you work with.
