Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, benefited Professional l level position. Starting salary range: $40,260.00 - $45,512.00/annually, depending upon experience.

Job Summary:
The Teacher position at the Children’s Discovery Center is a full-time benefited position responsible for functioning as the lead teacher in the assigned classroom. This position will be responsible for planning and preparing the classroom setting; supervising the children in the classroom; providing a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice essential strategies that are developmentally appropriate. This position will communicate with the families of the children enrolled in the assigned classroom at drop off and pick up, and will utilize the Procare app to maintain daily communication.
Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.

Essential Functions:

- Creating and maintaining a safe and healthy, welcoming, developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children.
- Planning and providing developmentally appropriate activities and lessons to help all children grow and develop socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively.
- Supervising young children at all times (in the classroom, on the playground, on walks, etc.) ensuring the safety of all children.
- Work in a collaborative manner with effective communication with other teaching staff and administrators to successfully implement and meet the goals of the CDC
- Initiate and maintain effective partnerships and relationships with families of children through proper communication on a regular basis, informing families of the progress and development of their children.
- Initiate, maintain, and update accreditation portfolios required of the facility by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) to be reviewed at site visits every 5 years.
- Initiate and complete formal and informal assessments of each young child to document their growth and development; and conduct family conferences each year in November and May, or at other times as deemed necessary.
- Contribute to staff and college in-service training sessions and other training opportunities as required. Provide CDC administrators with areas you would like to have more training in.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of early childhood development and applicable regulations that govern the operation of an early childhood education facility.
- Ability to respond in a courteous and professional manner to common inquiries from co-workers, parents, college employees, and others as may be necessary.
- Ability to work in an environment of collaboration, cooperation, sensitivity and confidentiality in working with the public, students, colleagues, and staff in both the classroom and on campus.
- Skill in applying the appropriate teaching techniques and methods in the assigned classroom/age group.
- Ability to function effectively as a classroom team member in a multi-tasking, fast paced environment.
- Ability to frequently move around the assigned work areas as well as the playground, within hallways, and other areas of the campus.
- Overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal points quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well.
Physical/Mental Demands:
- To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to maintain appropriate composure and necessary confidentiality with regard to both past and current employee, student, and donor data; documents; issues; etc., and respect privacy needs of employees, students, donors.
- The essential functions of this position require the ability to work in a setting with potential exposure to bodily fluids and blood borne pathogens; Personal Protective Equipment and safety procedures must be utilized as required, Blood borne Pathogens training is required biannually.
- The ability to comply with highly inflexible deadlines is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position; there will be multiple occurrences of sudden, urgent task completion required.
- While performing the essential functions of this position a variable work schedule may be required including long workdays, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations.
- While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to stand, walk, run, squat, kneel and sit while interacting with young children on a daily basis.
- Employee may at times be required to intervene and diffuse angry or frustrated clients.
- An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to perform essential position functions.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in child development – early education, education, or a closely related field of study.
- Ability to meet requirements of Wyoming Department of Family Services including but not limited to background check, tuberculosis test and current proficiency in CPR and first aid.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in child development – early education, education or a closely related field of study.
- Two years of instruction in early childhood education.
