Making a career choice in the (MAT) Medication Assisted Treatment program gives you an opportunity to be a part of the success in addiction. Providing medication and behavioral therapies to those struggling with addiction will increase the chance of their recovery. The MAT program provides a chance for the clinician to practice autonomy in choosing therapeutic interventions and group topics that are most beneficial to this population. Here, we provide a "whole patient" approach to managing substance use disorders and therefore get the chance to collaborate with other agencies and resources to provide the best care.

The Senior Therapists in the Lake County Health Department Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Adult Substance Abuse Program is an integral part of our treatment team, which includes medical staff, to provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services. In this role, Senior Therapists are responsible for providing direct addiction counseling services, assessments/intakes, and group facilitation.

Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required:

• Master’s degree in a related field required.
• Licensed by the State of Illinois as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required.
• 5 years of clinical experience required.
• Any offer of employment is conditioned on the successful completion of a background screening, drug and alcohol testing and may include a pre-employment medical exam

At this time, you must reside in either Illinois or Wisconsin to work for the Lake County Health Department.
