POSITION SUMMARY: The Vice President (VP) reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and is responsible for managing the business development teams and operations personnel in the Americas region. The VP will oversee and establish operations in the Americas with a team of key managers to ensure customer satisfaction, employee morale, safety in the workplace and quality products and services. The VP shall develop and implement systems and procedures that will continue to improve the sustainability, profitability, and efficiency of the operations. The VP will have overall strategic and management responsibility for the business, including the development and implementation of a comprehensive Strategic Plan, which encompasses short and long-term goals, objectives and strategies for sales and operations, and overall financial sustainability. The Strategic Plan should also identify new growth opportunities, including geographical expansion and diversification of services and product lines. The VP has full P&L responsibility for the Americas.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Vision

    • Develop and execute a long-term strategy and vision for the business that is based upon in-depth understanding of market and technology trends, customer needs, and competitive position. Ensure the business is structured appropriately to provide the highest quality, productivity, and product/service value to exceed customer expectations.
    • Partners with the leadership team to develop and execute annual and long-range plans.
    • Develop and implement market positioning and growth strategy within the framework of the strategic vision and annual plan.

Organizational

  • Critically review and implement any needed changes to achieve organizational efficiency and accountability.
  • Ensure that personnel in key positions are sufficient in terms of quality and that employee development plans are developed and executed.
  • Ensure that a culture of transparency, accountability, and clear communication is established and maintained.

Financial & Planning

  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the performance. Consistently strives to achieve the companys financial and operating goals and objectives.
  • Review and analyze activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to manage progress toward agreed goals and objectives.
  • Develop and recommend annual business plans and budgets that support the companys long-term strategy.
  • Pursue, achieve and exceed cost, revenue and margin targets; develop contingency plans to overcome known and potential obstacles and ensure the achievement of financial and other business goals.

Operations

  • Communicate with and foster collaborative working relationships within the organization, aimed at assuring successful delivery of all services to customers and attainment of goals in the strategic plan.
  • Develop high level business partnerships, demonstrating confidence, business acumen, negotiating skills, and interpersonal and communication skills required to represent the organization in critical business dealings.
  • Work with customers and the sales team to define key requirements and develop new opportunities for profitable growth. Build and implement marketing plans that grow market share, increase brand equity, create differentiation, and promote solution value propositions.
  • Establish and manage challenging goals, objectives, and strategies for improvements in current operations, including policy and procedures, and operations management in the areas of operational techniques, quality, cost reduction, streamlined processes, safety, reputation, customer satisfaction, employee relations, and performance measurement.
  • Working with the business development and commercial teams, oversee, lead and direct efforts to identify and capture new business opportunities that are in alignment with the Strategic Plan. Lead all pricing reviews for proposed work to ensure compliance with established goals.
  • Continually investigate and introduce process improvements.
  • Implement, promote and ensure compliance with company health and safety guidelines, practices and policies.
  • Encourage innovation and challenge the status quo.

The VP needs to possess both technical credibility and a high level of leadership presence, with the ability to quickly gain the confidence and respect of the management team. The candidate shall demonstrate the business savvy to manage a business, be a strong team player and take a hands-on approach within the business and while interfacing with customers. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS/REPORTING: This position is a senior leadership position within the Group and will require daily interaction with all levels of the organization. Reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: A degree in engineering (or similar) or business management (or similar).

EXPERIENCE:

  • Background in leading a business in manufacturing, technology or industrial company with a strong track record of driving profitable growth and transformation within an international organization.
  • 10-15 years of related experience as a divisional leader with direct P&L responsibility in an international manufacturing or industrial company.
  • Previous experience working with domestic and international markets.
  • Experience with industrial piping, fabrication, anti-corrosion coatings, and insulation would be an advantage.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: Americas Management Team, which includes business development, commercial, engineering, project management, operations. Finance, HR, and IT.

TRAVEL: Ability to travel as necessary, primarily in the Americas.

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: Must be able to operate computer and other office machines such as telephone, photo copier, and other office equipment as the job requires.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, bending, and reaching. May require lifting up to 5 pounds. Requires manual agility sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, telephone, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

MENTAL DEMANDS: Must handle diverse work problems on a daily basis. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. Must relate and interact with people at all levels in the Company.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a typical office setting. This position may require to work overtime on an as needed basis.
