POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President, Children s Health Service Line is a senior leader on the service line leadership team and provides administrative leadership to the Children s Health Medical Group and health system s pediatric services. The VP works with internal and external stakeholders to build and manage a high functioning pediatric medical group within the system s larger medical group and nationally recognized programs of excellence that deliver safe, evidenced based, patient centered, and efficient care.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and leads, with dyad partner and in conjunction with Barnabas Health Medical Group operational leadership, the Children s Health Medical Group. Establishes annual budgets and key performance indicators in areas of quality and safety, patient satisfaction, access, productivity and financial performance. Achieves KPI targets and holds teams accountable for doing so.
  • Develops strategic plan for Children s Health Medical Group s journey to being the preeminent pediatric, academic multi-specialty practice in the country. Provides leadership to development of service line and other clinical services strategic plans.
  • Develops multi-year manpower recruitment plan to support development of clinical programs across Children s Health Service Line, ensure timely access to appointments across the entire service area and provide for succession planning.
  • Identifies and executes opportunities to build programs and referral channels. Instills a culture of service to patients and referring providers.
  • With physician leaders, evaluates existing care models for opportunities to provide more effective and cost-effective care.
  • Evaluates existing provider compensation models, and ensures consistent and equitable compensation across similarly situated physicians.
  • Develops financial plans for new programs and providers. Develops and monitors annual budgets and acts to achieve productivity and financial targets. Oversees revenue-cycle activities and identify opportunities for expense reduction.
  • With physician and hospital partners, leads achievement of program recognition through Joint Commission, American College of Surgeons and other accreditations and ranking in US News and World Report Best Children s Hospitals survey.
  • Builds highly functioning and engaged service line team. Provides mentorship and personal development opportunities.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication relationships with all internal and external service line stakeholders. Promotes and builds strong relationships with physicians throughout the organization and the community and with community based organizations.
  • Works with Marketing and Communications Dept to develop and execute plan for building public and medical community awareness of the program.
  • Collaborates with RWJBH Foundation leadership to identify opportunities for new gifts and grants, participates in the cultivation and stewardship of current and future donors, and effectively utilizes funds previously raised.

Required Qualifications

  • Master s degree in business or health administration.
  • Minimum 10 years progressive experience in leading clinical services including leading physician practices.
  • Knowledge and experience performing financial management, strategic planning and implementation, business/program development, process improvement, outcomes measurement, reporting, physician compensation development, and human resource management functions.
  • Financial and operational analytical skills required, including profit and loss, reimbursement analysis, business trends and process analysis, and identification of system weaknesses.
  • A proven ability to build consensus and motivate teams of diverse, multidisciplinary, and multi-departmental stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively at all levels of a complex organization.
  • Ability to communicate information in a clear and concise manner that is comprehensible to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to utilize metrics and technology in a way that drives excellence, supports operations and facilitates integration across a historically disparate organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Management experience in pediatric services and academic medicine setting preferred
  • Leadership of physician practices preferred
