JOB SUMMARY
The VP, Global Forwarding Operations is responsible for business strategic planning, managing the national Global Forwarding organization, along with financial performance and attainment of profitability and growth for the division, with complete division profit and loss responsibility.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directly responsible for the service delivery execution and oversight of all national Global Forwarding Branch Operations.
- Oversee the budget process and is directly responsible for roll out and national P/L results.
- Develop and drive a national business strategy and action plan (along with the SVP).
- Establish, develop and execute operating policies for the freight business to support the overall company policies and objectives.
- Lead initiatives to improve transportation and logistics services in the areas of quality, reliability, execution to plan and overall customer service.
- Design and implement cross-functional processes with other LII solutions.
- Set national KPI targets and ensures set targets are achieved.
- Foster and/or enhance relationships with customers, overseas agents and outside vendors and ensure customer service levels are in line with customer requirements.
- Interact with Livingston leaders and managers throughout the Company’s network to ensure company’s operational priorities are aligned with total company direction.
- Ensure all operations procedures are developed and implemented for employees, providing clarity of day-to-day responsibilities and accountabilities.
- Lead and mentor management team, providing development and growth aligned with Livingston values.
- Adhere to all LII policy and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Sound knowledge of the core Livingston applications that support Freight and of Livingston services (e.g. Canadian & U.S. Brokerage).
- Strong working knowledge of Transport and Customs regulations (both US/Canada and Foreign).
- Excellent knowledge of transportation industry.
- Strong analytical, creative problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- General management skills: profit and loss management experience, budget/forecasting
- Negotiation skills.
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Capacity to take ownership of tasks and ensure resolution.
- Ability to manage projects.
- Ability to use sound judgment and make factual decisions.
