Position Description

The Finance and Administrative Services Department is seeking an experienced, reliable and team-oriented warehouse professional to join our team. In this role, you'll be an integral part of a small but mighty team responsible for receiving, issuing and delivery of copy paper, City records, surplus property, interdepartmental mail, US mail and auto parts between City departments and various warehouse locations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Receives incoming stock, checks and counts items received against invoices, packing slips or bills of lading, inspects the materials for quality and damage, documents receipts, stores stock shipments.
  • Performs routine recordkeeping and related clerical duties.
  • Keeps storage area of warehouse neat and order to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Drives a 25,000 GVW truck or delivery van to transport materials.
  • Operates a variety of warehouse equipment and machinery including forklift, pallet jack, scissor lift, hand trucks.
  • Works directly with City department personnel and the public regarding surplus items.
  • This includes pick up, storage, deliver, and assisting with the process for purchasing surplus items.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of six months of warehousing experience or related clerical experience (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class.)
  • Must possess or obtain Washington State Driver's License Washington State.
  • Forklift and Scissor Lift Operations Certification within 30 days of employment.
Desired Qualifications:
  • At least two years of warehousing experience.
  • At least two years of experience with a variety of material handling equipment including forklifts, powered pallet jacks and scissor lifts.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work well independently and as a member of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the public and a diverse workforce.
Other Requirements:
  • This position requires you to stand, climb, walk or bend, squat, kneel, or work overhead, for extended periods of time.
  • Required to frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires occasional outdoor service work in all types of weather

Additional Information

The finalist for this position must pass a pre-employment physical and background clearance in order to work in specific government buildings.

Work Environment
All FAS positions require onsite work. Alternative Work Arrangements will be based on operational needs and consistency with FAS policies.
