We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Assistant to the Dean (Administrative Analyst/Specialist-Exempt I). The Assistant to the Dean provides executive-level support to the Dean of the College of Business and Economics. Responsible for providing agile, proactive, reflective, and highly skilled executive support functions in support of the Dean. Independently performs a wide range of high-level administrative, financial, analytical, and technical responsibilities to support the effective operations of the Dean’s Office. Serves as the first point of contact for the Dean and independently determines the best course of action to handle inquiries. Oversees all aspects of the Dean’s calendar and travel and stays current with the Dean’s priorities for the college. Responsible for various complex, lengthy, and high-impact special projects and events for the Dean’s Office. Provides effective interpretation of policy and procedures pertaining to the projects and related support. Ensures that each interaction with the Dean’s office enhances Cal State Fullerton's reputation and expands its donor and supporter base.
Independently performs research and participates in planning, developing, altering, implementing, and evaluating policies, procedures, and approaches to projects and priorities. Establishes and oversees the document process in the Dean's suite to ensure clarity of roles and responsibilities. Composes general communications addressed to college staff, centers, and the CBE Leadership Team on behalf of the Dean. Works closely with academic department chairs and staff. Arranges monthly meetings with the Dean and the college Centers of Excellence and Programs. Guides management on the impact of recommended or implemented policies and procedures from a strategic and operational perspective. Addresses sensitive and complex matters brought to the Dean with diplomacy and discretion. Serves as the liaison between the Development staff and the Dean when assessing event dates, speaking engagements, donor visits, etc. Works closely with the college Development team to assist in reaching the College's annual fundraising goals. Works actively with the college Development team in scheduling development events with internal and external partners as they relate to the Dean's Advisory Board, Executive Council, golf tournament, mixers, and other development events. Develops effective professional relationships with senior management and key external constituents, including donors, alums, trustees, and vendors. Works closely with professionals and manages appointments with Executive in Residence and students. Co-leads the college commencement ceremonies. Coordinates the faculty performance evaluation process by following the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Exercises discretion and independent judgment in serving as an ambassador for the College of Business and Economics with senior officers, academic leadership, colleagues, and external benefactors. Plans and organizes Dean's events and takes minutes at meetings. Leads and coordinates projects per the Dean's request. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs plus two years of related experience. Working knowledge of and the ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations. Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program or administrative specialty. Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. Skilled in research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs. Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Expertise investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.

CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior relevant work experience in higher education. Knowledge of University policies, procedures, organizational structure, and protocol.
