Job Description
MAIN FUNCTION: Assist in conducting activity program.
REPORTS TO: Director of Activities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in carrying out daily routine for activities program.
- Assists in ordering, requisitioning and recording use of supplies for activity program.
- Utilize past experience or new ideas to expand on the activities program.
- Be primarily responsible for upkeep and orderly arrangement of supplies and equipment in the activities department.
- Upon request from superiors, attend and participate in staff education or in-service education problems.
- Assist in preparation of projects assigned to residents.
- Assist in supervision is use of tools and equipment including firing of ceramic kiln.
- Write quarterly progress notes as assigned by Activity Director.
- Coordinates monthly newspaper for residents.
- Be primarily responsible for care and daily cleaning of animals and cages.
- Load vans and assists residents on social field trips.
- Maintain daily attendance records.
EDUCATION: High School Graduate
CONTACTS: All personnel, residents, volunteers, and visitors.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Well-lighted and well-ventilated room for activities program.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Minimal. Good physical and mental health. Must have visual acuity. Stands or walks most of the day. Pushes or pulls equipment and residents in wheelchairs most weighing over 100 pounds. Must be able to transfer residents from wheelchairs on outings, most weighing over 100 pounds. Must be able to assist in loading wheelchair van on outings, operate and lift and position residents in van.
SAFETY: Will follow safe work practices in accordance with facility health and safety policies.
