Duties Summary
As a substitute/on-call, operates and maintains a bus transporting passengers along designated routes; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school; and
- two (2) years of work experience in the operation and maintenance of a passenger-carrying motor vehicles.
Quality of Experience: Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant's overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that he/she has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered.
License Requirement: At the time of appointment, Candidate selected for hire will need to possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) type B with P endorsement , a valid State of Hawaii Department of Transportation Medical Examiner Certificate and any other appropriate licenses or certificates as required of the position.
Knowledge of: Methods of operating a passenger bus; general maintenance practices of buses; laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations governing the operation of motor vehicles on streets and highways; hazards and safety precautions in operating a passenger bus.
Ability to: Operate a passenger bus skillfully and safely; deal tactfully with the public; understand and observe traffic laws and rules; observe mechanical defects and take steps to have such defects corrected; make minor emergency repairs to the passenger bus; understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Tests: Applicants may be required to qualify on an appropriate examination.
Health and Physical Condition Requirements: Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class must meet the health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

- Copy of your high school diploma or equivalent.
- Evidence of possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license (CDL B, "P" endorsement)
- Evidence of possession of a current driver history report and Department of Transportation Medical Examiner Certificate signed by a registered physician with the National Registry of Certified Examiners and any other license required by law at the time of application*
