Position Summary

Certified Nursing Assistants is responsible for providing patients with compassionate care in a medical practice setting. This position provides direct patient care under the direction of a physician by performing high quality, compassionate customer service and clinical care.

Essential Functions

• Maintain patient’s stability by checking vital signs and weight, testing urine, and recording intake and output information
• Administers Medications using proper technique and documentation as prescribed by the physician or nurse practitioner.
• Escorts patient to the examination room, collecting, reporting, and documenting data, including, but not limited to, patient’s chief complaint, vital signs, weight, height, head circumference, current medications, oximetry level, glucose levels, and patient comfort level. Update the medical records for provider’s review
• Call prescriptions in to the pharmacies as directed by the provider and document the call
• Perform sensory screenings as indicated by pre-written parameters
• Collect specimens for diagnostic studies and perform other procedures, completing the necessary documentation as directed by the provider
• Assist with procedures utilizing aseptic technique, application of minor dressings, remove sutures, and applying splints as directed by the provider
• Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records
• Maintains work operations by following policies and procedures
• Protects practice’s value by keeping patient information confidential in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
• Communicate plan of care to patients as directed by provider
• Obtains ER and/or hospital records as needed for patient visit and upload them to patient EMR
• Arrange for patient’s diagnostic testing and admission as directed by the provider

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience as a nursing assistant

• Certification with accredited training course
• AHA BLS Certification required upon hire
• Current CPR certification
• High school graduate or equivalent required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of basic medical procedures
• Strong computer skills
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients and medical staff
• Ability to comfortably perform and complete tasks in a timely manner
• Ability to follow the protocols and procedures established by the practice

Working Conditions

• Standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Physical demands include periods of sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Use of the telephone, computer and other related instruments or devices while communicating with patients, caregivers, physicians, and staff. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
