Kenosha Community Health Center is looking for Dental Assistants to work in its multiple locations within Kenosha County, including its newest division, Pillar Health!

POSITION SUMMARY

The dental assistant’s primary responsibility is assisting the dentist with clinical procedures and patient care. This includes chairside assisting, taking x-rays, taking preliminary impressions, and initial screening of emergency patients. The assistant will be expected to assist in four-handed dental procedures including, but not limited to: examinations, periodontal charting, composite and amalgam restorations, oral surgery, removable prosthodontics, crowns, and endodontics. By the end of the assistant’s training period, they will be expected to be proficient in all procedures routinely performed in the clinic.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Welcome, seat, and dismiss patients.
  • Prepare patients, operatories, and instruments for dental procedures
  • Assist in identifying patient needs using appropriate forms of communication
  • Obtain and document patients’ personal, medical and dental histories
  • Chart teeth and oral conditions as determined by the dentist
  • Create and maintain accurate patient treatment records
  • Prepare for and assist with the administration of local anesthesia, including the placement of topical anesthetic
  • Obtain preliminary impressions and pour/trim models
  • Prepare and maintain handpieces for laboratory and operatory use
  • Demonstrate four-handed instrument transfer
  • Prepare for and demonstrate clinical proficiency in selecting and transferring instruments in each area of clinical dentistry (diagnostic, preventive, operative, oral surgery, crowns, etc.)
  • Explain preoperative and postoperative instructions to the patient, as prescribed by the dentist
  • Prepare for and assist with the management of medical emergencies in dentistry.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all the specialties of dentistry and the procedures commonly performed
  • Take digital x-rays of diagnostic quality (periapical, bitewing, and panoramic) using appropriate patient and operator safety measures for radiation.
  • Demonstrate and practice proper infection control processes, including but not limited to: instrument sterilization, operatory cleaning/disinfection, and use of personal protective equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Educational and Experience

Preferred Graduate from an Accredited Dental Assistant Program/School or a maximum of 3 years of experience as a Dental Assistant. High School Diploma or GED required.

WORK SCHEDULE

Availability to work up to 40 hours during clinic operating hours, Monday – Thursday, 7 am – 7 pm, Friday, 7 am – 5 pm, and rotating Saturdays, 7 am – 3 pm.

$2,000 Hiring Bonus*

*Full-time Dental Assistants hired between September 1, 2022, and November 30, 2022, will be eligible to receive a hiring bonus paid in 4 equal installments every 6 months. The employee must be actively employed to receive a payout and maintain perfect attendance within the first 90 days. Internal candidates are not eligible.
