Professional Responsibilities / Outcomes
1. Caregiver is responsible for meeting the needs of consumers by providing personal assistance services that include, but are not limited to, the following: a. Personal care including bathing/showering; grooming; dressing; dental care; assisting with toileting which includes changing briefs, chuks and/or adult diapers for consumers with incontinence issues; and, hair care b. Assisting with care of consumer’s clothing by doing laundry on a regular basis c. Housekeeping duties including sweeping, vacuuming floors and furniture, dusting, mopping, washing dishes, and general cleaning of all consumer living areas d. Preparation of nutritious meals including assistance with developing a healthy grocery list, meal planning, meal preparation (cooking), feeding as indicated, and clean up after each meal e. Helping and encouraging consumers to participate in activities and socialization opportunities or interactions f. Assisting consumers with medications by providing reminders and following instructions if consumer receives Specialized Care Services 2. Assists, as needed, with the rehabilitative processes by encouraging the consumer to become as independent as possible (as outlined in the plan of care). This may include assisting with range of motion exercises and supporting them when receiving physical / occupational therapy. 3. Establishes a respectful and supportive relationship with the consumer and family which transmits trust and confidentiality. 4. Reports any change in consumer’s mental and physical condition or changes in his/her home situation to Region Director. 5. Carries out assignments as instructed by the Region Director and according to the Service Authorization / Care Plan and/or house chore/task list. 6. Responds in a compassionate, respectful manner to consumer mental, physical, and emotional needs. Seeks training to appropriately interact with and support consumers with special care needs (i.e., dementia, diabetes, COPD, behavioral health disorders). 7. Follows appropriate emergency procedures in the event of any incident, i.e., accident, injury or significant change in consumer’s condition. 8. Maintains strict confidentiality at all times. 9. Arrives promptly to work as scheduled with no call offs or no shows. 10. Complies with company policies and procedures.
Job Expectations: 1. You are expected to work the schedule approved by the Region Director with no call offs other than emergency situations and as approved by the Region Director. 2. You are expected to report to work at the assigned location at least 5 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. 3. You are expected to fulfill your entire shift until staff arrives for the next shift. You are NEVER to leave the home without a staff member there to relieve you. 4. You are expected to communicate openly with your Region Director. The Company has an open door policy and encourages you to bring concerns, suggestions, etc. to the Region Director so that your needs and ideas can be addressed.
