Job Overview
The Director of Strategic Planning develops and sustains an operational environment that supports faculty and staff by managing the MSB HR strategic functions. They ensure that strategic priorities progress by engaging key stakeholders, identifying needs, gathering information, and securing resources. Some responsibilities include:
- Enable strategic growth in programs by conducting building utilization analysis, planning and management and assisting different departments within MSB
- Identify needs, and make requests for and manage the acquisition of required talent based on the academic program growth
- Determine the need to hire, allocating positions across the MSB strategically
- Administer development - e.g., committee assignments, work to develop skills) and performance management
- Support hiring managers in staff recruitment
Work Interactions
Reporting directly to the CFAO and supporting the MSB Dean, the Director of Strategic Planning manages strategic planning for MSB staff, building, technology and other needs across all programs within the MSB. As a key advisor to the Dean and CFAO, the they preserve confidentiality internally to the MSB and with respect to all external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree - preference for Master’s degree
- 7 to 10 years of higher education or similar experience - preference for operations and human resource experience
- Considerable knowledge of university organization operations, policies and procedures
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and strong managerial ability
- Strong writing and communication skills, including comfort with public presentations to a wide range of audiences
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work with senior-level executives and all employment categories including faculty and staff
- Strong data management skills, with the ability to interpret complex data
- Excellent technical skills, including the financial interpretation and analysis skills
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to move projects through to completion, on time and within budget guidelines
