Director of Software Development

Data Commerce Solutions is a new business unit set up to unlock the value of Fiserv’s differentiated data and build credit, marketing and fraud products to serve our clients and customers better. The lack of latency and real time nature of our big data offers unlimited opportunity to bring together disparate data and format, cleanse, standardize, link and repose it for real time and offline use cases.

We are looking for multiple Directors of Software Development to support our Data Factory and Fraud platforms within Data Commerce Solutions. Data Factory is an engineering approach to data and analytics to ingest data and build features and models leveraging real time stream processing and batch computing. Access to multi-petabyte historical data allows for an innovative architectural approach to repose in a journal and collect data exhaust via API while serving customers. Our Fraud platform built on top of the Data Factory will provide a comprehensive 360 view of the Fraud profile of a consumer or a merchant to prevent and predict fraud more reliably.

What does a successful Director of Software Development do at Fiserv?

You will be responsible for leading a team of software developers and product owners to build the next generation Data platform, Fraud Exchanges, and Data Analytics products using software engineering principles. As a hands-on leader, you will be responsible for working with Product, Technical Project Managers, and the leadership team to translate the requirements into a scalable software architecture to deliver tangible business value. You will build horizontally scalable tool agnostic ingestion pipelines/low latency repositories with micro services working on a multi-cloud environment.

What you will do:

• Build and lead a team of 10 to 20 software developers and data engineers as a hands-on architectural, team builder and an execution leader.
• Mentor and produce high quality engineering output.
• Build framework supporting ingestion pipelines and generic purposing layers with batch capabilities and micro services, as a foundation layer.
• Lead to design and build configurable components to gather data, standardize, manage metadata, build lineage, and catalog them.
• Lead to ingest the data in real time using Kafka and other pub/sub technologies and leverage cost effective ETL and spark technologies.
• Leverage expertise in design and development of microservices, orchestration and highly available real time architecture and APIs.
• Utilize a strong expertise in compute and storage options and in Cloud technologies to build data pipelines, streaming pipelines, low latency, and high throughput options.
• Lead the team to create an engineering culture to Data Commerce organization.
• Lead the development of roadmap and strategies for documenting and presenting API specifications in an easy and consumable format.
• Lead the team with security in mind (authentication, authorization, encryption, digital signature), SSL, web service proxies, firewalls, multi-protocol gateways.

What you will need to have:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, or training or work experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience from developer to progressive leadership roles.
• 5+ years of experience with direct accountability to build and lead engineering team to deliver on roadmaps.
• Well versed in SDLC, DevOps, and continuous delivery/continuous deployment within a large-scale organization desired.
• Ability to lead a large hands-on team with a strong foundational development experience in Java, Spark, Springboot, NoSQL, Kafka, RDBMS, GIT, JIRA, Maven, Confluence, on Agile methodology.
• Expertise in implementing complex full stack solutions including big data distributed systems, and Micro-Services in large Enterprise organizations.
• Experience in implementing high volume transactions processing applications.

• Hands-on experience leveraging object-oriented design patterns, domain driven design principals, test driven development and enterprise architecture frameworks.
• Experience leading teams to ensure quality through automation end to end, create operational framework with tools necessary to instrument and monitor production systems for support.
• Expertise in leading a team and knowledge of the evolution of architectures from 3-tier to Data warehousing to big data low latency and high throughput distributed architectures and ability to articulate and decide appropriate architecture.

What would be great to have:

• 5+ years of previous software engineering and data engineering work in a Credit and Financial industry.
• Experience in fraud risk prevention, fraud program controls and investigations in Payments and Banking.
• MBA or Master’s degree.
• 5+ years of experience working with executive stakeholders.
