WORK ENVIRONMENT (FIT)
Westgate Garden Design, LLC was founded in 2016 by Charlene Westgate to fill a void for ecological landscaping south of Tucson where most landscaping is done traditionally with high maintenance, high water, non-native plants. I am passionate about transforming the landscaping industry by using rainwater harvesting and permaculture principles to create beautiful landscapes in harmony with Nature. To further that mission, I have created strategic partnerships with organizations such Watershed Management Group and the Tucson Audubon Society. We proudly donate 1% of our sales to each of these organizations. Westgate Garden Design has been recognized for its ecological efforts and exceptional customer service by the Green Valley/Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce and the Pima County Small Business Commission.

About the Owner
At Westgate Garden Design, I believe in an upside-down organizational chart. At the top of the chart are our clients who are the ones that drive everything we do. Without them, we would not exist and exceeding their expectations is our highest priority. Under our clients are the employees and independent contractors that listen to and serve them. These are the super stars making all of this happen. At the bottom of the chart, the owner’s role is to support employees and subcontractors in being successful in their jobs, and in having fun at the same time.

I love when things run smoothly and are done well and on time. I hate surprises and can be obsessive about details and about punctuality. The intention is to bring someone on who can work independently and precisely, manage their own time, and who can stay in communication as the assigned project progresses. Support is a given. Hand holding is not.

I value straightforward communication, collaboration, and people who bring strengths to areas that aren’t mine. Willingness to give and receive feedback is important. Willingness to have the backs of team members is a must. Willingness to offer new and better ways to do things is highly prized.

Values
At Westgate Garden Design we practice permaculture ethics: care of people, care of the earth, and reinvesting back into the first two.

* Team. We nurture team members through support and encouragement. We cheer each

other on to success, and when one of us wins, we all win. We work hard together and have fun together. We communicate with each other openly by speaking the truth with love.

* Clients. At Westgate Garden Design our clients are the reason we exist. We honor them by listening attentively to the things that are important to them and delivering that in our designs. We honor our clients by providing exceptional customer service. The client may not always be right, but the client is the client, and therefore, deserves always to be treated with the greatest respect.

* Nature. We consider it a sacred duty to be faithful stewards of the earth. We believe that clients get more beautiful, resilient landscapes when we make Nature our ally in the design process. At Westgate Garden Design, we have the honor of making a difference for people and for the earth.
