Health Unit Coordinator Job at Cerenity Senior Care, White Bear Lake
Job Summary:
The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) is a multi-skilled partner with non-clinical and clinical responsibilities, who participates with the interdisciplinary care team in the delivery of the patient's plan of care. The HUC facilitates the smooth operation of the nursing unit by coordinating non-clinical operations including transcription of physical orders, order entry, maintenance of patient charts and unit records, efficient processing of unit information and maintenance of unit supplies.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
1. Audit charts and observations to ensure compliance is being maintained.
2. Perform billing of records released for revenue compliant with state guidelines
3. Maintain not only organizational within the health information department but community wide through audits and enforcement of community policies and procedures.
4. Demonstrate knowledge of clinical aspects in health care including but not limited to: terminology, pharmacology, and anatomy.
5. Transcribe orders when needed
6. Promotes the Benedictine Mission and Core Values of Hospitality, Stewardship, Respect, and Justice by bringing the Mission and Core Values into the day-to-day activities of the company
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience in administrative duties
Accuracy, confidentiality, and ability to work quickly in a fast-paced patient care setting
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
Medical Office Administration Certificate
Health Unit Coordinator Certificate
Experience in order transcription
Knowledge in state and federal rules and regulations
Knowledge of disclosure practices and re-disclosure limitations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to work accurately and efficiently with attention to details.
Demonstrated ability to work with computers and basic PC operations
Excellent organizational and communication skills
strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated team player
Coordination skills with ability to focus on keeping effective work flow
Must be able to read, write and communicate in English
Required to analyze data, remember and recall multiple policies and procedures
Ability to audit medical records and evaluate systems
Ability to manage multiple priorities
