The Infection Control Coordinator is a registered professional who is responsible for maintaining an effective hospital-wide infection and prevention control program. Responsible for compliance with regulatory and accreditation bodies, the Infection Control Coordinator conducts hospital-wide surveillance activities, maintains nosocomial surveillance data, collaborates with facility's surgical staff to identify post-operative surgical site infections, collaborates with medical staff members regarding Infection Control issues, identifies outbreaks of infections and initiates control measures. The Infection Control Coordinator maintains communication with local health department(s) to report and assist in the control of communicable diseases, generates summary reports on nosocomial data and facilitates the Infection Control Committee, monitors service activities through planning and preparing QI programs as needed. Collaborates with Environment of Care Committee and P&T Committee as applicable to provide comprehensive and coordinated services.

Serves as a resource for facility leadership and staff. In order to provide for the prevention and control of infections, the Infection Control Coordinator is responsible for conducting ongoing surveillance, education, investigative analysis, direct intervention and communication to all pertinent parties. Responsible for data entry in NHSN. Responsible for the employee health program in regards to onboarding of new employees and assuring all required vaccinations are up to date.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) required. Excellent customer service and organizational skills required. High level critical thinking skills and problem resolution skills required. Computer skills with word processing, graphics, presentation tools, and data base programs required.

In depth knowledge of Joint Commission standards, Federal / State laws / regulations required. Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities and deadlines required. Associates degree is required. BSN preferred.

CIC preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience preferred. Licensure as a registered nurse.
