The successful candidate will work closely with Service Delivery Management, the Training team’s Product Primes and Ross Video’s Product Teams to design, develop, and implement engaging learning activities leading to certification. This includes instructor-led training offered in person or online, self-instructional e-learning modules, instructional videos, and other learning solutions as needed. The incumbent will work closely with subject matter experts to convert highly technical and operational content into effective learning materials. They will also collaborate with other trainers as needed to align projects, discuss initiatives, and develop company best practices for learning and development. The incumbent may also develop non-technical training for management or professional development and perform other duties as required.

The Instructional Design Specialist will report to the Manager of Learning and Development within the Service Delivery Operations team.

What the job is all about:
Design and Development
- Assess needs and recommend appropriate learning solutions. Partner with key stakeholders within the learning function and subject matter experts across the organization to identify target audience learning needs and ensure learning activities meet business requirements.
- Analyze existing training materials and recommend improvements.
- Apply proven theories, practices, models, and developing trends to optimize instructional design and development. Be creative in finding learning solutions that may be new or innovative and that effectively address learning needs.
- Prepare and manage learning documentation (e.g. course plans, storyboards).
- Create effective e-learning in the form of self-instructional modules for specific target groups or for company employees generally.
- Develop and manage learning assets that can be used in different projects (e.g. audio clips, images, videos).
- Contribute to the overall success of the Learning and Development function by identifying ways to continually improve design and development, tools, and learning experiences.
- Collaborate with the Manager, Learning and Development to establish priorities, manage projects, and improve learning and development programs.
- Manage own work to meet deadlines and proactively identify and advise on issues that may affect the timely design and development of learning solutions.
- Accountable for the accuracy and quality of all instructional design work.
- Leverage templates and requirements to develop and produce training.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Use the company Learning Management System (LMS) to distribute learning materials and track results. Work with the Manager, Learning and Development and with other administrators to continually improve ways of working with the LMS.
- Stay current with learning-oriented technology trends and innovations to continually create quality learning solutions.
- Follow company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties related to instructional design and development.
- Post-secondary degree in instructional design, educational technology, or related field.
- 5+ Years of experience designing and developing learning solutions in a business environment.
- Demonstrated experience in completing training projects on time and with consistent good results.
- Demonstrated skills developing e-learning, more specifically with the Articulate Suite of authoring software, and including demonstrable examples of e-learning modules.
- Extensive skills working with other software to create learning materials, like the Microsoft Office suite, graphics, audio, and video editing software, and online presentation or learning software.
- Collaborative and proactive with strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention for detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Self-starter, quick learner, and ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Passionate about learning, instructional design and discovering new technologies.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of live broadcast workflows and production
- Experience in a high technology domain
