Lifeguard Job at The City of Jersey Village
Under the general supervision of Pool Manager and the Recreation and Events Coordinator. Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
- Normal lifeguarding of pool patrons to the standards of American Red Cross.
- Enforce all written rules, procedures and regulations at Clark Henry Pool
- Rescues guests in distress as needed and acts in a prudent and calm manner during saves and administering first aid.
- Cleaning the pool facilities (including restrooms, deck, lobby, pavilion, trash removal, etc.).
- Help to keep pool itself clean. Skimming pool water as needed. Occasionally help with vacuuming of bottom of pool. Brush pool walls when needed. Clean pool tile.
- Help to maintain proper chlorine and pH levels. Maintain records of regular level checks.
- May also instruct group, semi-private, or private swim lessons.
- Performs duties as assigned in the event of an activated Emergency Action Plan, such as calling operating an AED, providing basic life support, or using a spinal board.
- Assists with recreation program and community events when assigned
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-25 pounds). Works indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures including heat, cold, temperature swings, or inclement weather. Some exposure to dust, odor, electrical, mechanical and toxic hazards, using proper safety precautions. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather. Ability to work flexible schedules that may include weekends, evenings, split shifts, and holidays.
Lifeguards must be certified America Red Cross in life guarding, First Aid, CPR, and AED. Certifications must be kept up to date for continued seasonal employment.
