Legal Services NYC (LSNYC) seeks a driven Marketing Officer to build and implement effective marketing strategies for LSNYC and its borough office, enhance our digital footprint and brand recognition among key stakeholders, and build consistency across all marketing materials.

Legal Services NYC fights poverty and seeks racial, social, and economic justice for low-income New Yorkers. For more than 50 years, we have challenged systemic injustices that keep people in poverty and provided legal services that help our clients meet basic needs for housing, income, economic security, family and immigration stability, education, and health care. Our work fights discrimination and helps to achieve equity for low-income New Yorkers. With a workforce of 650 people, we are the country’s largest civil Legal Services organization in the country serving over 110,000 individuals yearly.

LSNYC includes four constituent corporations (Bronx Legal Services, Brooklyn Legal Services, Manhattan Legal Services, Queens Legal Services) and one branch office (Staten Island Legal Services). Our staff is unionized. We partner with scores of community-based and member-run organizations, elected officials, law schools, public agencies, pro bono lawyers, and the courts to maximize our effectiveness.

Role:

Legal Services NYC (LSNYC) seeks a driven Marketing Officer to build and implement effective marketing strategies for LSNYC and its borough office, enhance our digital footprint and brand recognition among key stakeholders, enhance our, and build consistency across all marketing materials. The officer will join LSNYC’s growing Communications and Marketing Team which supports Legal Services NYC and its borough offices’ programmatic and advocacy work through press/media relations, marketing strategies and outreach, storytelling, social media, promotional/informational materials, graphic design, branding, website promotion, and online campaigns and digital strategies. The team also works closely with LSNYC’s senior leadership team, development unit, grants, operations and HR teams on fundraising efforts, recruitment, grant support, internal and external projects, and internal messaging and information platforms.

The Marketing Office position is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced team that supports LSNYC’s mission of fighting for social, racial, and economic justice in New York City on behalf of lowincome communities. The Communications and Marketing Team is also unique in that it collaborates with every corner of the organization which gives team members the opportunity to interact with a wide array of staff and clients, uplifting personal narratives and our services across the organization. The Marketing Officer will report directly to the Director of Communications and Marketing and work closely with the Communications Officer and other staff members.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating and implementing a marketing strategy to increase awareness of the organization, borough offices, programmatic work, and various issues among key stakeholders, including lowincome communities, policy makers, elected officials, funders, advocacy organizations, community groups, and others;
  • Managing and enhancing the organization/borough offices social media platform, websites, and its digital presence;
  • Working across the organization/borough offices to create and maintain numerous tailored marketing collateral that highlight the organization’s programs and services, including Know Your Rights fact sheets, one-pagers, reports, flyers, infographics, and recruiting and fundraising materials;
  • Working across units and boroughs to create marketing materials for community engagement events and activities;
  • Collaborating with partner organizations, coalition and community groups, and policy makers on digital campaigns, social media strategies, and advocacy efforts;
  • Working closely with LSNYC’s fundraising, HR, and grants teams to engage donors, employees, and stakeholders, as well as assist with annual events and related promotional materials;
  • Identifying compelling story ideas and original content as well as developing and managing marketing calendars for a variety of digital content;
  • Assist the Communications and Marketing Team as needed

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of marketing experience;
  • Bachelor's/Associate's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred;
  • Passion for supporting and promoting racial, economic, or social justice movements/campaigns;
  • Experience managing and growing strong social and digital media accounts
  • Excellent verbal, writing and oral communications skills;
  • Self-starting, resourceful team player with sharp communications and marketing instincts and keen decision-making abilities;
  • Strong skills in organization, planning, project management, and attention to details, with consistent follow-through and ability to juggle multiple priorities under pressure and deadlines;
  • Ability to grasp and translate legal and policy issues into persuasive and easy-to-understand language;
  • Strong interpersonal, diplomacy, and management skills and the ability to work collaboratively, effectively, and sensitively with people of diverse professional and cultural backgrounds;
  • A strong entrepreneurial spirit, independent and creative thinking, and flexible,

Salary Range: $61,725 - $118,008
