SUMMARY
This position is to provide training to new employees which will give them all the tools needed to be successful within GRS maintenance facilities. This training is critical to enable GRS to supply the railroad industry with product and services which are safe, compliant, and preferred by our customers.

The Network Trainer reports to the Directory of Assurance for GRS. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.
- Provide onsite support as required for training of new employees.
- Support the development of the overall GRS training program.
- Safely lead a team of inexperienced employees throughout the entire railcar repair process.
- Analyze trainees for effectiveness of training and provide trainees further support as needed.
- Support and mentor GRS maintenance workers on multiple levels across the network.
- Prepare training material and classroom agenda to support training sessions
- Conduct presentations and give exams to judge effectiveness of training.
- Assist in the creation of instructor materials inclusive of step by step written instruction to be provided to employees in classroom and hands on application.
- Safely provide hands on railcar repair training in a heavy industrial setting with a focus on skills such as torching, grinding, welding, and gouging.
- Work with Plant Managers on scheduling training need at each site.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to speak, in a public setting with strong communication skills and confidence.
- Broad knowledge of railcar repair is required, and knowledge of railcar manufacturing is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of FRA and AAR regulations regarding to the repair and maintenance of railcars is required
- Ability to help others learn in a high energy enthusiastic manner.
- Identify training needs and schedule appropriately.
- Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
- Continuously enhance training, instructions, and delivery of presentation.
- Promote safety, quality, and customer satisfaction throughout the training process.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, SmartSheet, and Teams is a plus.
- Ability to read and write English at a high school level.
- Work in hot and cold environment, in and out of the weather, work safely around heavy equipment, and on top of and under railcars, as well as around railroad tracks.
- Knowledge of machines and tools required to weld, cut, and gouge.
- Perform/ prioritize multiple tasks with attention to details.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to steel toed boots, eye protection, ear plugs, gloves, hot work PPE, and fall protection.
Experience & Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
- Minimum 5 years of railcar repair including hands on.
