As Johnson & Johnson expands its digital surgery eco-system and elevates the surgical care continuum, the MedTech organization is seeking to establish a data-driven, seamless, and accessible customer experience that enhances cross-franchise collaboration and improves customer engagement.

This position is responsible for owning the UX/UI of a cohesive and connected digital solution suite for hospital administrators, surgical teams, and patients across MedTech’s clinical and commercial solutions.

Responsibilities will include guiding end-to-end product design activities and building digital design system(s) to connect customer needs to a systemic design approach that ensures quality of the customer experience, consistency, and development efficiencies across MedTech platforms. +

Candidate Profile

You are a hands-on doer willing to solve systemic, sophisticated, and ambiguous design problems.

You will elevate a systemic approach to human-centered design. You will build innovative and creative design solutions that shape the future of MedTech’s digital user experiences in close collaboration with product management teams, clinical advisors, marketing and development teams.

You will keep informed on industry trends, UX/UI opportunities and methodologies, and customer demands. You should be naturally curious, have a passion for human-centered technology design, be a creative problem solver, be comfortable with ambiguity, and adopt a build-to-learn culture.

Responsibilities

  • Design a cohesive and connected user experience that integrates MedTech’s digital solutions in close collaboration with leaders from design, product management, and software engineering

  • Lead complex initiatives, producing scenarios, designing prototypes and writing specs that show how our digital products enhance the user experience and ecosystems

  • Define UX/UI design principles and standards encouraging a deep partnership with cross-functional teams

  • Define and implement a cohesive UX visual design strategy and language across releases on multiple platforms

  • Provide a strong system design perspective, crafting scalable models which improve the quality and set the strategic direction for MedTech’s Digital Solutions

  • Implement system governance structure across franchises and product areas to evolve the MedTech Design System, explore new system opportunities, promote UX standards, and integrate feedback into design system as appropriate

  • Unlock data-driven consumer insights, identify root cause patterns of UX issues, develop solutions and cascade solutions into design systems

Qualifications

Required:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in design or related field
  • 8+ years of design leadership related UX experience is required
  • Experience delivering UX/UI experiences in close partnership with engineering, product management, and executive partners
  • Knowledge, passion, and practical experience producing inclusive, accessible, usable, multi-platform design systems at scale
  • High design craft and experience in multiple design fields (UX, UI, design systems, prototyping) and prior work demonstrating a strong design process, clear insights, and problem solving
  • Strong visual, written, and oral communication skills are required
  • Up to 80% hands-on design work and up to 10% travel based on CDC and J&J guidance and policies.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $131,000 to $225,400
